New cardholders may be asked for positive identification before cards are issued. All Cardholders must agree to be financially responsible for the return or replacement of all materials checked out by them or their minor children.
Children and youth ages 10 years and up may have their own library cards provided that their parents come into to the library and sign a statement of responsibility for them.
Adult cardholders may have a total of 4 books checked out from any circulating collection in addition to a total of 4 books from our Children’s Easy Fiction collection. Children may only have 2 books checked out at any time.
Library books check out for a 2-week period and may be renewed twice providing that no other patron has requested the same title.
Overdue books are billed to the user’s card at the rate of $.05/per day with the fine not to exceed the total replacement cost of the book plus a handling fee.. Users with large outstanding fines will be blocked from checking out additional materials.
Computer and Fax Usage
The SGU Library has computers that it makes available for use to students and to the public free of charge. All computers users are asked to sign on and off the computers, to restrict their usage to one hour or less and to refrain from accessing any materials that are obscene or offensive in nature. Those violating these rules will lose their usage privileges. Computer users may print materials at a cost of $.05 per page.
A self-service copy machine is available to student and public library users for the cost of $.05 per page.
Fax machine services for both receipt and transmission of faxes are available to all users at the cost of $1.00 per page, however the SGU Library will not be responsible for incoming or outgoing faxed materials lost in transmission or those not picked up within 24 hours.
Children and youth under age 16 must have a consent form signed by their parent or guardina on file in order to use SGU Library computers. Parents must be aware that library staff will not be responsible for a child's internet activities. Parents should plan on discussing appropriate limits with their child or monitoring them in person.
Food and Beverages Prohibited
Food and beverages are not permitted in all computer and gerneral use areas of the library with the exception of the water available at the water cooler or those beverages in containers that are sealable with a lid.
Cell Phone Usage Prohibited
The Library prohibits the use of cell phones and asks that cell phone users turn their phones to the off or vibrate settings upon entering the library and take all phone conversations outside the premises promptly.
Restricted Hours for Youth (16 Years or Younger)
Children and youth under the age of 16 unless accompanied by an adult may be restricted in the hours they can use the library. This is done in order to maintain a quiet study atmosphere for SGU students. Restricted hours are subject to change by season. All children preschool age and younger must be supervised at all times by their parent, guardian or other agent.
