Project Description:
In collaboration with the United States Geological Survey, EROS Data Center, Sioux Falls, SD, the Lakota Studies Department is developing an Archaeological Predictive Model. The project will utilize datasets from the State Archaeological Resource Center, SGU's Cultural Resource Management Program and the Heritage/Archival Center and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe's Mni Wiconi Rural Water Project to establish a database for archaeological sites (cultural and historic) on the Rosebud Sioux reservation using a GIS platform. Fieldwork and data entry will be completed by Ione Quigley and Clifford White Eyes at Sinte Gleska University with technical assistance and projected costs provided by EROS Data Center.
